Cyber Security Strategy Tips

Here are the basic cyber security strategies that you should try.

Cyber Security Strategy Tips

1. Keep your operating systems, applications, and web browsers updated.

It is important to keep your operating systems updated because the updates often patch security vulnerabilities. It is a crucial step to protect your information from being hacked.

2. Keep software and hardware updated.

It is also important to keep your software and hardware updated because they too have security updates that may patch security vulnerabilities.

This step is also essential in securing your information from hackers.

3. Keep your antivirus software up to date.

It is important to keep your antivirus software up to date because the updates often patch security vulnerabilities that can be used by hackers to gain access to your computers or network devices.

Keeping the antivirus software updated will give you an added layer of protection against hacking attempts.

4. Use strong passwords on all devices and accounts that you own or use.

Change them regularly (at least every 60 days). Use different passwords for each different account (if possible).

A strong password should consist of letters, numbers, and symbols, and contain at least 13 characters (longer passwords are stronger). It should not contain any words in the dictionary, nor should it be based on any personal information about you or others (e.g., birthdays, names, addresses, favorite pet’s name, etc.).

Avoid reusing passwords across multiple accounts, as this makes it easier for someone to hack all your accounts if they gain access to one of them.

Password managers can help you create very difficult-to-crack passwords quickly and easily. So if you don’t already use the one I highly recommend installing one on every device you use regularly — if not now then as soon as possible.

Some of the most popular password managers are LastPass, 1Password, Dashlane, KeePass, Sticky Password, mSecure, Password Safe.

5. Use different usernames for each account where possible (and do not share those usernames with anyone).

If you must share an account with someone else make sure you set a strong password on it first. For instance, don’t use it for anything else and let them know they should never share it with anyone.

6. Use different email addresses for each account where possible (and do not share them with anyone).

If you must share an account with someone else make sure you set a strong password on it first, don’t use it for anything else, and let them know they should never share it with anyone.

So, if you have administrator access on any device or computer make sure you don’t share it with anyone. Or perhaps, let anyone else know what user accounts or passwords are associated with that device or computer.

7. Use different credit cards for each account where possible (and do not share them with anyone).

If you must share an account with someone else make sure you set a strong password on it first, don’t use it for anything else. Besides, let them know they should never share it with anyone.

Thus, if you have administrator access on any device or computer make sure you don’t share it with anyone or let anyone else know what user accounts or passwords are associated with that device or computer.

Apply these cyber security strategy tips and enhance your company’s computer security.
