types of computer security

What are Types of Computer Security?

There are five types of computer security:

1. Password Protection

Passwords are the most common measures of computer security. A user is required to give a password to access his or her computer or any of its programs. This password is usually a series of upper-case and lower-case letters, numbers, and special symbols. The password may be changed according to what is set by the user.

2. Encryption

Encryption refers to the conversion of text into unintelligible codes that only authorized readers can decode. Encrypted texts are usually sent through email or sent through mobile phones which can only be accessed by the intended recipient with the help of an application that decodes the text.

Moreover, encryption is useful in keeping private communications between two people who share an encryption key. Encryption is also useful in securing secret documents on computers. So that they users without permission cannot read them; even if they gain access to them.

Many encryption methods can be useful on computers today including steganography, asymmetric cryptography, and symmetric cryptography.

3. Firewall

The firewall could either refer to software or hardware which prevents unauthorized users from accessing a network such as the Internet which contains private information.

Such as passwords and accounts for financial institutions like banks and credit card companies, personal emails, and messages. Also, personal files contain lots of sensitive data such as social security numbers and other personal details like medical records.

4. Antivirus

An antivirus is a program that protects a computer from viruses. A virus is a type of malicious software that infects a computer, usually without the knowledge of its owner, and can replicate itself to spread to other computers.

There are millions of viruses available on the Internet today. Computer viruses are usually by people who want to steal information from an infected computer or who want to damage it.

5. Spam Filters

Spam filters block out unwanted emails which are what we know as ‘spam’. They are usually available in email programs that can block emails according to certain parameters set by the user, such as email addresses or keywords found in the body of the email. Spam filters are essential in protecting computers from viruses that are usually with spam emails.

Conclusion

Computer security is very important nowadays. If you want to protect your computer from hackers and other threats, you need to strengthen the security on your computer. An antivirus is a program that will help you in preventing viruses from infecting your computer. There are many antivirus software available in the market.

You can choose one that best suits your needs. There are also some free antivirus programs that you can get for free. A firewall is another way of protecting your computer from hackers.

Remember to practice safe computing, always update the virus protection on your computer, and make sure you create strong passwords for all of your accounts! These methods of computer security will protect you against different kinds of threats like viruses, spyware, spam, hackers, and other malicious software.
